About Us – Meet the Authors of Tuscany by Car
My name is Bob Woods and I am one of the principals of Wanaka Enterprises, Inc., publisher of the Tuscany by Car series of eBooks. I am also one of the authors. Our eBooks contain a wealth of information not found in any other books and feature the application of state-of-the-art technology. We were only able to do so with the invaluable assistance of a team of exemplary professionals located in Minneapolis, Chicago, Napa and Cork, Ireland.
We are a family business and take pride in everything we do, but occasionally errors do occur or information may need to be updated. We value our customers and strive to be responsive to any information you provide to ensure our publications are up-to-date, reliable and helpful.
Your Satisfaction Is Very Important to Us
If you have any comments and/or constructive criticism, please let me know. I will respond as promptly as I can.
“Necessity is the Mother of Invention”
Tuscany by Car was born out of necessity. We are a father-daughter team who have traveled the world together and love sharing adventures. In the spring of 2006, we took our first dream trip to Tuscany and found ourselves hopelessly lost as we navigated the small scenic roads throughout Tuscany. We spent far too much time frustrated, searching antiquated guidebooks and maps rather than enjoying the pure pleasure of driving through Tuscany. We knew there had to be a better way—so we created Tuscany by Car, a revolutionary and comprehensive series of travel guides that use GPS technology taking you to the best Tuscany has to offer—without ever getting lost.
Over the past six years we have taken dozens of trips to Tuscany personally driving thousands of miles while researching hundreds of restaurants, hotels, shops and the many sights in Tuscany. Our intention was to provide you with all the information you need to plan your perfect trip to Tuscany—without ever getting frustrated or lost. In addition to researching a wide variety of fabulous hotels, restaurants, shops and sites, we personally identified and confirmed GPS coordinates, using advanced GPS equipment, for every location discussed in our books.
Robert E. Woods
Bob is an avid traveler who moonlights as an attorney, business executive and entrepreneur. Bob has photographed professionally on and off since high school. His first business was Communic-Art Services, and his advertising photography appeared in Billboard magazine at the age of 17 . He paid his way through college working in camera sales, and paid his way through graduate school selling (with his math professor) collectible Leica cameras to Japanese enthusiasts. He loves photography!
As a lawyer practicing with a large firm, Bob represented many of the world’s largest technology and aerospace companies and led the world’s largest association of law firms, Lex Mundi, as a member of its executive committee and then for two years as its chair. After achieving a particularly striking result in a major case, he left the security and comfort of the firm for Silicon Valley, where he joined a publicly traded internet technology company and was later promoted to executive vice president.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of three firms, is profiled in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in America and, for a leading international publisher, has co-authored a flagship on-line product for business professionals covering all aspects of business formation, planning and termination, with a special emphasis on mergers and acquisitions. Bob holds degrees from the University of Minnesota and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is something of a gear head and loves nothing more than driving internationally. Bob currently lives in St. Paul, Minnesota with his wife Cindy. When not writing or traveling, Bob enjoys wilderness skiing, photography, bicycling and planning new adventures.
As someone who worked full-time to completely pay his own way through college, law school and graduate school, Bob places great stead in value for the dollar and believes that travel is one of the very best ways to enrich one’s life and understanding of our increasingly interconnected world.
Laura is a dedicated foodie who worked for several years in acclaimed New York City restaurants while attending NYU and after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. TBC’s Commitment to the Community
As travelers and human beings, we understand the need to give back to our communities. My first real job (after my paper route) was as a camera salesman at Finn’s Cameras in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. I worked there part-time while in high school and then full-time through college. Finn’s had a full inventory of high-end cameras, and it was great place to work and learn about photography. About the time Jerry Finn contracted lymphoma (around 10 years after I left the store), he lost the family cabin his father had built near Lake Superior, as a result of a dispute over the sale of the store. I was a lawyer at the time and joined the case on a pro bono basis, appealing the adverse judgment against him and securing the return of his family’s property, shortly before he passed. I was proud to help him as he had helped me. In this life, it’s true that “what goes around, comes around.”
